In The Algorithm We Trust
Trust the Algorithm
The social media algorithm is one of the most amazing things that have ever happened to our social experience. Less than fifty years ago, if you liked any topic outside of society’s pre-approved generic list, you were going to be a bit lonely. Living anywhere other than a large city meant learning, exploring, and enjoying your obscure hobby or interest almost entirely alone. There could be a few books that you could turn to in order to explore the topic, but you were still doing it alone. All of the other people who are just like you also live isolated from you, barely knowing that other people have similar thoughts, ideas, and interests as them. So, people were then forced to be alone or conform to the nearest social group, remotely similar to the community they longed to be a part of. The options for unique individual interests were limited because of access, knowledge, and community surrounding those topics. With the algorithm, you have access to a community, knowledge, and new ideas that would have never been possible in a small town alone. You’re not alone anymore; the algorithm has made the world so much smaller. Everyone gets to have their own bubble of community tailored to their preferences. Not only has the world become smaller, but it has improved through information dissemination. The algorithm doesn’t just connect you with similar people, but it can connect you with people and ideas you didn’t even know you may resonate with. It is a program that can help expand your horizons and keep you engaged and learning far better than your own exploration. Your social media landscape can be a place that encourages you to grow, change, and explore. It is obvious that the collective consciousness of young people towards emotional and health-related topics is directly related to our ability to share experiences with each other. These experiences aren’t new; the only difference is we now have the tools to see patterns that previous generations couldn’t see. We know we are not alone in life, and our consciousness reflects that. We want to heal and evolve, not shelter from the fear of the unknown.
Beware Of…You
The way we use the social media algorithm is one of the most destructive things that have ever happened to our social experiences. Those same groups we have found to be a part of on social media can be the very groups that hold us back. The Algo is great at giving us what we want so much so that we never see anything else. Our digital social lives transform into echo chambers of the same thoughts and ideas, creating stagnant pools for limiting beliefs to fester within. So many people want to avoid accountability by blaming the algorithm for running social connections when, in fact, the algorithm only responds to our actions.
The algorithm is designed to give us more and more of what we say we want.
This becomes a recipe for disaster when what we say we want is fear, hate, or mind-numbing distractions. The Algo happily delivers whatever we wish through our constant actions. The very thing that could bring us closer to each other and help us evolve can be used to sedate us.
The algorithm is a powerful tool before anything else; it should be used with intention. Technology in all forms is supplemental to the human experience, not a human replacement. We should be using technology as a tool to make the world smaller and do more human things, i.e., connect, learn, grow, and experience. When we allow technology to dictate us, we weaken ourselves until the tech becomes a crutch to stand on. The algorithm or any tech can lift us up or tear us down based on our choices when using the tech. We are in charge and must consciously choose to improve, or we will rot. Like all technology, the algorithm is just a mirror to processes that have already been perfected and exist within nature, which means we intuitively know how to use these processes beneficially.
As above
The Universe gives us experiences that match the energetic codes we put into the world around us. If our energetic codes are positive, then a majority of the things that surround us will be a reflection of that reality. In other words, we attract more of what we put out into the world, so our reality is a frequency match to our internal life. Of course, many of us may have been given poor tools that make emitting positive energy difficult, but the universe isn’t emotional; It just gives us what we “say we want.” The longer we live in an energetic state, the more we signal to the universe that we want to be surrounded by everything in that spectrum. If we wish to leave uncomfortable environments, our actions must consistently reflect that idea, not just sometimes.
The universe will give you exactly what your frequency asks for, not what you say you want. The universe works just like your social media algorithm. If you constantly click on and consume shit memes whenever they pop on your feed, the more you tell the algorithm, “I like this,” no matter how much you verbally say deny, your actions are consenting. The fact that the algorithm works almost exactly the same as the universe is a good thing because the sooner you learn to navigate one, the faster you’ll learn the other.
